Mobilizing congregations and communities across difference for social action and spiritual growth.
Our History: CMM is the greater Boston area’s oldest interfaith social action network. Founded in 1966 by clergy and laity to address poverty, housing, and racial justice, CMM has tackled the most pressing issues facing our communities, working together to build Dr. King’s vision of Beloved Community for all people.
Our Priorities: CMM’s programs of education, advocacy, and volunteer service address issues of poverty, housing, and homelessness; youth violence and domestic violence; immigrant and workers rights; climate change and ecojustice; disaster relief (e.g., Haiti and New Orleans); and interfaith responses to religious intolerance, anti-Semitism, Islamophobia, and genocide.
Our Membership: CMM’s members and partners include nearly 100 congregations, nonprofit agencies, and educational institutions in Boston and surrounding cities and towns. Traditions represented include Jewish, Muslim, Catholic, Protestant, Buddhist, Hindu, and secular allies inspired by conscience.
